Delicious and Easy Snack Swaps For Diabetics

Delicious and Easy Snack Swaps For Diabetics

Living with diabetes is all about making better habits. Diabetics end up having to rediscover their food tolerances to find the dishes that react best with their blood sugars.

But sometimes it can be tough to let go of your favorite snacks.

We're going to break it down and share some healthy snack substitutes that can keep you on track, without messing up with your blood sugar.

For the Chip Enthusiast:

We know Survivor isn't the same without a crunch snack in your hand.

The next time you reach for a bag of chips, which are loaded with simple carbs and trans fat that could put your blood sugar and heart health at risk, why not grab for some popcorn instead?

Popcorn is high in fiber, and fun to dress up or down with great side flavors. Try some white cheddar topping or extra butter on your popcorn.

For the Big Dipper:

Something feels so good about dipping some fresh bread into a great dip. We love spinach dip, feta dip, hummus, or french onion dip.

Why not skip the bread and use veggie sticks like carrot or celery? Or if you have it on hand, raw cauliflower makes a great crunchy base for dips.

For the Chocoholic:

We know it's hard to let go of your fave candy bar. Chocolate candy bars are loaded with sugar and preservatives.

Get your chocolate fix with some high-quality dark chocolate. If you find the taste bitter, try a blend that has sea salt. You will not go back. Trust us!

For Ice Cream Lovers:

We all scream for ice cream. It's one of the best desserts and comfort foods, but if you're not comfortable you could get a massive amount of sugar and calories in just a few bites.

A better alternative? Try low-fat frozen yogurt.

Or better yet, if you have a food processor you can make your own vegan ice cream by blending banana and peanut butter and freezing it.

For the Soda Pop Sippers:

Fizzy drinks are tasty now and then, but there's no denying they're no good for you. Loaded with sugar or loaded with aspartame, it's a risk you just shouldn't take.

What do you do when you get that craving for a fizzy drink? Why not try a Kombucha

In recent years, Kombucha has become popular in many communities and it's begun to gain mainstream success.

Kombucha is a fermented tea drink that is naturally effervescent, that means that the bubbles happen naturally due to the fermentation process.

Kombucha goes down smooth and comes in great flavors, it's low calorie and is packed with probiotics that will help your gut health.

Now that's something we'll drink to! Cheers.
